How we go about it
- Public Outreach -
Conduct public outreach events and planned
observations for astronomical and celestial events such as
equinoxes
solstices, meteor showers and eclipses, through the year.
- Popular Astronomy -
Organize popular astronomy events such as
science fairs, lectures, workshops and
activities etc. for public and
students to impart knowledge and appreciation of astronomy .
- Partner with Science Popularisation programs -
Partner with
planetariums, science centers,and government programs
to International and National
Scientific Projects - Coordinate scientific
programs with National and International bodies such as
Collaboration, Astronomers Without
Borders etc. in order to bring reputed and cutting edge scientific programs and opportunities to Indians.
News :
As part of one of these programs ´All Indian Asteroid Search Campaign´ in 2010, 4
Main Belt asteroids were discovered, 2 of them by school children under the same programme a rare Trojan Asteroid was discovered as well as 5 Main Belt asteroids were discovered.
- Media Communications -
SPACE issues frequent media
communications, press releases and interviews to news and
media to disseminate astronomy, space science and physics
events
happenings or news to the public at short notice.
- Most current Celestial Events Calendar –
SPACE creates and
frequently updates a calendar of celestial and astronomical events
customized to local settings and times, launch information,
conferences, and a description of events to be conducted by
conducted by SPACE during the year.
- Informational Material -
Handouts and detailed information for all
relevant events are sent to schools, media and public in order to
provide educational material enabling an understanding of the
hows and whys of each phenomena and event.
