SPACE has been working in the field of astronomy and sciences to inculcate scientific temper in society. The thought of having SNCs was formulated while working for the masses especially students, as we found out that while most of the institutes were willing to work for astronomy, but either because of time constraints or various factors including financial factors they could not work on astronomy on a continuous basis with SPACE . A way to reach the students and community was worked out in form of Nodal centers for SPACE where the institute will work in outreach for astronomy and space sciences for masses under guidance of SPACE. An open ended solution for working with/under SPACE was designed and has been implemented in the last 3 years whereby around 31 institutions have been working with SPACE as SNC’s. SPACE touches many states in India and Bhutan where its SNC’s are located and are working for the cause of astronomy for masses.

Various astronomy events such as total solar eclipse, partial solar eclipse, solstices, equinoxes, world space week and international projects launched by SPACE such as Great Indian Star count - fight against light pollution, Asteroid search campaigns in collaboration with ISAC, USA etc. have all been in the working agenda of these SNC’s where they have taken part with enthusiasm and have brought laurels to their parent institutions. SNCís are an integral part of SPACE as they work as the support for astronomy community in various events.
